Handmade Upcycled Denim Flower Power Crossbody Bag

If you love retro style, denim and a splash of Flower Power, this handmade crossbody bag could be just the thing for you. I've made this bag using pieces from old jeans, combining a lighter-wash denim with a pretty denim flower-print design. The front flap features four denim squares stitched together in a retro patchwork style, with two rows of contrasting yellow/orange jeans thread adding to the vintage feel. The flap is decorated with several colourful flower patches, while underneath there's another little surprise. The inside of the flap has a faux jeans pocket created with jeans-thread stitching, decorated with two more flowers. There's a genuine jeans pocket on the outside of the bag, finished with a faux leather "Hand Made" tab, plus another jeans pocket sewn inside for keeping smaller items handy. The lining is a navy polycotton fabric covered with white polka dots and little white daisies, which I thought worked perfectly with the denim and floral theme. To finish it off, I've chosen a mid-blue and white adjustable strap with a lovely swirl pattern that has a real 1960s feel. Gold and silver-tone hardware completes the bag. Approximate size: 9 inches wide x 10 inches high, excluding the strap. This is a handmade one-off, created from upcycled denim. Because the materials have been given a previous life, there may be small variations in the denim - part of the charm of choosing an upcycled handmade bag rather than something mass-produced. A cheerful and practical little bag for everyday use, with plenty of retro personality!
