On white cartridge paper, I drew this picture in highly quality colour pencils in the range of Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache Pablos. I have paid great attention to detail on the butterfly's wings.

Seeing this lovely creature resting on a wildflower in the Isle of Wight, I decided to immortalise it on paper. I took a couple of photographs before it flew away. Back in my studio I spent many hours recreating every detail in order to produce a life-like image. I hope I have managed to do that.
