Silver Poppy Seed Head Earring - Botanical Silver Earrings - Handmade in UK

Cast from nature - sterling silver Poppy Crowns. These earrings feature large, poppy seed-pod crowns - the detailed, star-shaped cap that keeps hundreds of poppy seeds inside the seed pod. The Poppy is best known as a symbol of remembrance & hope but is also a Birth-Flower for the month of August in the UK. Materials: Sterling silver. Polished to a shine - these are eye-catching & star like. Dimensions: The poppy heads are approx 22mm diameter & total length including ear-wires is about 40mm. The front & reverse of these Poppy Crowns are both detailed with textures. How it's made: In the Autumn I collect dried seed-pods from my garden - this one was a perfectly formed Opium Poppy (Papaver Somniferum) which I cut from it's pod to cast into silver. A mold is made and repeats are made in London using the ancient art of lost-wax casting. The castings are then returned to my workshop in Wales, where they are tidied up and handmade ear-wire are attached. Presented in an eco gift-box with a little polishing cloth inside.
