Ceramic Humpback Whale Sculpture, Small Ocean Animal Ornament, Bathroom Shelf

Humpback whales have always fascinated me and I have so much fun sculpting and glazing these little ornaments that bring the ocean into your home. I've spent so many hours studying different individuals and their behaviour and have tried to capture their majestic nature as anatomical correct as possible whilst bringing them to life. My obsession with glazes means that I couldn't choose just one so after a lot of experimenting and testing I settled on my favourite 4 combination that all bring a different quality to your room so do check out the rest of my shop. Each little whale is approximately 13cm long and sits on top of an English oak stand (11x5x2cm) that has been treated with natural oils to preserve its character even in the steamiest of bathrooms. Once I have sculpted the body of the whale in my cabin studio on the edge of Bristol UK they are bisque fired to 950c in my home kiln before being glazed and then fired again to 1220c to become strong and durable stonewareware ceramic. The photos show the design and the glaze used but due to exciting nature of handmade ceramics, each and every piece will have its own patterns and be completely unique.
