Description

This handcrafted bowl is turned from ash wood, then carefully burnt to enhance the natural grain before being embellished with red and blue wax. Measuring approximately 6 and a half inches wide, the bowl features a dramatic contrast between the pale, natural interior and the darkened exterior. The coloured wax settles into the textured grain created by the burning process, catching the light and revealing subtle flashes of colour across the surface. Smooth inside and tactile outside, this bowl works beautifully as a decorative piece or statement accent.

This bowl was inspired by contrast and transformation. Burning the ash wood brings its hidden grain to the surface, while the red and blue wax highlights those patterns with depth and movement. I wanted to create a piece that feels almost elemental—fire revealing form, colour adding emotion—resulting in a bowl that invites both touch and closer inspection.
