About this item
This is a beautiful hand-embroidered wall hanging (largely cross-stitch, though not entirely). It is all my own design, and unique. It depicts the Christmas song, the Twelve Days of Christmas, each day having a square of its own, containing an illustration and the relevant number. All the birds, the partridge, turtle doves, goose and French hens are as accurately represented as possible, given the limitations of the fabric and stitches. The five gold rings are stitched with a combination of stranded cotton and a metallic gold thread. All the rest of the illustrations are embroidered in stranded cotton on acrylic afghan fabric, which I have hemmed down the two sides and fringed at the bottom edge. I have sewn a slot along the top for a length of dowel to be inserted, to enable the piece to be hung. (The dowel is not included.) The hanging is 50cms, (19.5") wide and 70cms. (27") long, including the fringe. It could equally be used as a pram blanket. It is hand washable in warm water and can be ironed if necessary on the reverse with a cool iron.

I will endeavour to post within 24 hours, but items may still take a long time to reach you due to the pressure under which the Post Office is working. Unfortunately I will no longer be able to send items to Northern Ireland. Actual colours may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours and that everyone sees these colours differently. Therefore I cannot guarantee that the colour you see accurately portrays the true colour of the product.

Christmas! I made a soft baby shawl depicting the Twelve Days of Christmas, and thought it would make a good Christmas wall-hanging. I bought the blue afghan fabric as baby afghan, but felt it was too harsh for a shawl. It makes a superb piece of textile art.
