“This dog statue was commissioned of Tutu, a fourteen-year-old Shiba Inu girl. Tutu was a wedding gift for the commissioner’s partner 14 years before the commission, and was commissioned in bronze as a further gift to the gentleman’s wife. As Tutu was in Beijing, she was sculpted from photographs. But I hope I caught a bit of her gentle character, even in the beautifully classic standing pose that I settled on with the commissioner.”
