I created this linocut from a photo taken during a walk on Boxing Day some years ago. We like to visit the beach over the Christmas period and why not when you only live an hour away.
This print is created using one plate, but is print several times using masks in order to print with different tones of indigo.
The ink is sourced from Hawthorne Printmakers who are a local, family owned business based a few villages from my home. They are an amazing company to work with and I love visiting their workshop to buy new inks and get advice.

Full description
Whitby Pier limited edition linocut print, viewed from the North Beach.
This print is 8 x 10 inches with a printed area of 6 x 8 inches.
Each design is created using hand carved plate of traditional lino, carved with specialist tools and printed with a hand wound press, using Hawthorn Printmakers oil based inks onto 300 gsm Snowdon printmakers paper. Every print is unique and completely individual due to its handmade nature. It's always so satisfying peeling back to paper to reveal to final print.
Sold unframed and unmounted.
