Ideal for when you've got astrophysicists round to chat about the cosmos, this marble bottlestopper is bound to prove a talking point!
Made with high quality 'Pyrex' type borosilicate glass, this marble has been hand formed by me by melting it directly in a superhot propane/oxygen flame. The top is clear to act as a lens, and the bottom is red with swirls of whispy blue and yellow clouds inside. The real centre piece is a tiny micro-galaxy that hangs above the nebula!
The red base is clear acting both as a dramatic backdrop as well as colouring light going through it, the chrome stopper's mirrored surface also helps reflect light up through it.
The centre marble is about 24mm (just under 1inch) and securely fastened into the chrome and rubber stopper with a glass 'stalk,' and is 91mm overall (about 3.6 inches) and will be sent in a gift box.
The marble has been fully annealed in a microprocessor controlled kiln to improve hardness, although it is glass so rough handling is NOT recomended, but handwashing is recommended!
All of my glass is one-of-a-kind piece of artisan flamework made entirely by hand, by flameworking, in my studio in the heart of the English countryside.
