The Goldfinches which chatter and jostle on the garden feeder are a great source of entertainment and are definitely one of my favourites.

Full description
A detailed hand-embroidered study of a Goldfinch among some autumn bramble leaves.
The image is built up using individual strands of embroidery thread in contrasting colours of white, black, cream, buff, yellow and crimson. I’ve used a little piece of pinkish satin ribbon, rolled up and stitched down for the branch which the Goldfinch is resting on, and the bramble leaves have an edge of deep pink and red.
The stitched textile measures just over 4x4cms and the frame is approx 13.5x13.5cms, and is appropriately enough, gold coloured wood. I’ve photographed it without the glass for clarity, and with the glass in place and a hook on the reverse, it’s ready to display.
