I was inspired by Gothic filigree work for this piece.

PDF shuttle tatting pattern of the 'Eva' bookmark
This features the basic version and three variations (as shown in the listing photos above): using two colours, switching sides with two colours and using variegated / multicoloured thread.
This is NOT the finished item.
Difficulty level for the basic bookmark: Beginner
Difficulty level for the variations: Intermediate
Instructions are for size 20 crochet / tatting thread. This pattern needs 2 tatting shuttles to make the finished piece.
Techniques used in the basic design: rings, chains, joining picots, Continuous Thread Method, joining a ring on the other side (explained in instructions).
Further techniques used in the variations: split rings, joining picots to a split ring (explained in instructions), downward joins (explained in instructions), shoe lace trick.
The pdf file features detailed written instructions in English and a diagram complete with numbers of double stitches required (as shown in picture 5 of this listing).
