Here we have a pair of Fused Glass Cuff Links with multi-coloured strips of glass black background. The glass cabochons are mounted on gunmetal coloured cuff link mounts. This is a new design for us, and one of our first uses of accordion glass. This is glass that has a series of ridges running through it. We use this design to hold coloured glass stringers (thin rods of glass) in place and cover the whole piece with a piece of clear glass. The piece is fused in our kiln to around 800C which is enough to melt the glass pieces together to form single piece. Once cooled we glue the cabochons onto the mounts. As all glass is hand-cut in our home studio in Shropshire the two cuff links will not be totally identical, but be assured that they make a great pair.

Most jewellery we make is designed mainly for ladies (of any age). It was satisfying to make something for the gentlemen. I don't often wear cuff links, but was gifted a pair of Murano Glass cuff links by our son to wear at his wedding in Verona a few years ago. They looked so beautiful that I wanted to try and make something that looked as nice - this is my attempt.
