The pearl is the one of the oldest known gems, and one of the few organic gems, deriving from a living oyster. They have been called the 'teardrops of the moon' because some early cultures that a pearl was born when a single drop of rain fell from the heavens and became the heart of the oyster.
Some cultures believed that pearls were formed by the passage of angels through the clouds of heaven, and over time, the pearl has become the symbol of wisdom and innocence.
Pearls are believed to promote calm, and the purity, generosity, integrity, and loyalty of their wearer. Pink pearls in particular are linked to calmness and serenity.
