This is a 70% Alpaca & 30% Merino wool this blend of wool and alpaca creates a great 4 ply multi twist yarn. This is ideal for shawls & scarfs or anything that you would like some drape in, a versatile yarn for garments and accessories. It has been Eco printed & hand painted with natural dyes and elements in the Yorkshire Dales, the yarn is locally spun just down the valley from me .
The eco printed yarns are all individual as the the magic happens through the dyeing technique used, only after it is all bound up & steamed is it that the final result emerges on unwrapping the yarn . This yarn is multi coloured with various pinks, red caramel, yellow, grey, lilac & orange.
I only use natural dyes to dye yarn with, in both plant form & extract as well as minerals & insect ( e.g.Cochineal and Lac which are both scale insects & have been used traditionally for hundreds of years) I usually use Alum & Cream of Tartar to modify my yarn .
Weight :100g skein
Approx 400mts/437yds , 4ply, Needles size:2.5 mm-3.5 mm
Dye Used: Lac, cochineal, onion skins, madder, tea, logwood .
To care for your yarn I would suggest that you always gently hand wash it in cool water with a gentle wool soap ( I like to use a no rinse wool wash )
