About this item
Optimistic Four Leaf Clover seedling with flower bud. There's something nurturing about repotting seedlings. I've deliberately attempted to capture the newness of a seedling by mixing a spring-like green & colouring the flower bud with a complementing fresh purple. The roots are a healthy nutritious pale yellow colour. Hand-inked, Hand-printed linocut Card, with info on the back hand-set in old letterpress, hand inked & printed on my ancient Press. :: 250gsm Specialist Artist Paper hand torn to size :: Card size is 85mm x 115 mm :: Recycled Envelope size is 95mm - 122mm :: Sealed into a compostable cornstarch clear-bag :: Inside is blank for you to write your own personal message :: Cards will be sent carefully packed in a repurposed board protected, recycled package It's very hard to convey, in a photograph, the truly beautiful physical quality of the ink & it's colour on this gorgeously soft-to-touch paper Cards will vary slightly due to the nature of hand production making each card unique & original All items are ©Elly Rowbotham Please note the copyright of the print or image does not transfer with the sale

I’ve always loved the oddity that is the Four Leaf Clover & it’s association with luck, I never pass a clover patch without searching for the rare one with its extra leaf My image is influenced by botanical drawings, hence including the roots. An old aunt of mine used to have a huge heavy, leather bound, musty old book leaved with beautiful original lithographic botanical illustrations of orchids which I would lose myself in as a young'n Here, my linocut seedling, with its flower bud emerging early, is dedicated to my adored newest-family-edition who was born in mid-winter & is determinedly blooming with Spring &, just like this seedling, is keen to develop & grow. Our little stroke of un-expected Luck, thrilling us as his uniqueness blossoms, expertly encouraged by his youthful parents. I hadn’t expected to be a grandparent this soon… &, what’s all this “it’s great, you can give them back” stuff?!
