About this item
These 4 acrylic buttons have a central hub and a rim of a rich, dark, navy blue colour. I’ve mentioned chatoyancy in a few of my other listings and these buttons have that luster too. The central hub seems to brighten and darken as the button is moved. There seems to be a light under the dome itself. There’s nothing there, of course, it’s just the way these buttons were made to have that quality. The shank on the back was molded separately, it seems, and attached to the back plate either during or shortly after the button making process. It is supposed to be there…… please don’t think it was just stuck on for the fun of it! It’s just that most of the buttons I’ve listed with shanks have them molded as part of the button, these are different. Made from acrylic (plastic) they are very hard wearing and machine washable. Each of the 4x buttons is 16mm in diameter. (1015)

My mother and grandmother both had stashes of buttons, most of which were purchased before I was born (and I remember the ‘Swinging 60’s’!). I used to love to play with the buttons, plunging my tiny hands into the tins and jars of multi-coloured 'gems'. I spent hours sorting them into coloured piles, size relation piles, design piles and any other pile I could think of. Decades later, after I had inherited the tins and jars of historical lovelies, I came up with the 'brilliant' idea of sharing the love with whomever would like to adorn their creations with something a bit different, a bit 'special'.
