Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
A richly embroidered felt heart hanging featuring a red rose design.
Green and sky blue, hand-dyed wool fibres were felted to a heart shape cut from 'eco' felt (commercially produced from recycled plastic bottles), using an embellisher machine. Red and white rose shapes, and spires of red hollyhocks were needle felted to the background. These large blooms were enhanced with hand embroidery. A rich texture of stitched flowers was created by the addition of smaller blooms, and foliage, hand embroidered in various wools and threads.
A white ribbon loop has been added for hanging. The back of the heart has been neatened by a second layer of 'eco' felt - blanket stitched to the front using green and pale blue cotton threads to correspond with the blue and green areas in the stitched design.
Maximum width - 10 cm approx.
Length of ribbon loop - 8 cm approx
I enjoy stitching these garden designs which have proved popular on many other items. This hanging heart is a new item for my collection.
