About this item
This original journal or notebook cover has been carefully hand-crafted and sewn, starting with a base fabric of handmade felt, made using merino wool, silk, yarns and other fibres. The finished felt piece was then stitched into and decorated with sequins before being made up into a book cover. The cover is softly padded, lined with hand-dyed jade green cotton damask fabric and oversewn several times around the edges. A length of lilac grosgrain ribbon has been stitched along the spine and a narrow satin ribbon forms an attached bookmark. It comes complete with an A5 casebound sketchbook from Seawhite of Brighton, with 46 sheets (92 pages) of 140gsm acid-free cartridge paper. Their books are made in Britain using British paper and are renowned for their excellent quality. The sketchbook can be substituted with an A5 hardback lined notebook on request - just add a note to your order. The cover measures approx 6.25 x 9 inches (16.5 x 23 cm) closed, 13 x 9 inches (33 x 23 cm) opened flat, and will take a book or diary up to 8.5 (21.5 cm) long and 12.5 inches (32 cm) from front edge to back edge. I love making felt using the traditional wet-felting technique, and adding other fibres and fabrics in the process to create a unique piece of fabric each time. Each piece takes about an hour (and lots of elbow-grease!) to felt. Once dry, it can be trimmed, stitched and decorated with beads, buttons and cords before being made up as a cover. A single book cover can take the best part of a day to complete, and each one is a unique piece of usable art.

Seller great - prompt delivery and very lovely fob BUT after 6 weeks the metal bit that the key ring looped through has broken so I can't use it. It happened while in my bag - no idea how. About to try superglue. Disapppointed as I liked it very much.
