Full description

A gorgeous original linocut of a row of traditional beach huts in Southwold, Suffolk. Southwold is famous for its brightly coloured beach huts and artist Fiona Carver has captured them surrounded by wild dune grasses with a couple of seagulls resting happily on a roof, watching the water.

Linocuts are a form of printmaking developed in the early 20th century when artists such as Picasso experimented with the technique. Fiona loves working in this medium and uses it to create beautiful prints of the British coast.

Each linocut is hand printed by Fiona using her antique cast iron press with oil based inks on archival paper. Six carefully carved lino blocks are used to make the print, one for each colour. A limited edition of 50, each print is signed and numbered. It is framed in 1" natural oak with acrylic safety glazing and a pale cream acid free mount.
