Fancy having the world in your ear?
These little globes are just over 8.5mm in diameter, and made by melting hot glass directly in a superhot propane oxygen flame.
I have given this rich blue glass a special treatment to produce 'clouds' and also floated 23ct gold onto the surface to give the effect of continents and islands. There is alot of serindipity with this technique, so each one is completely unique, some have more clouds, some have more gold, some have little brown islands too where the clouds and gold react! This one has lots of gold left giving more detail and bling! Over the top I have then encased them in clear glass to protect the effect underneath and help act as a magnifier.
The glass is annealed in a digitally controlled kiln, the fastened to 925 silver studs with resin. This should be waterproof but I would advise removing them when washing and to help prevent damage to the glass as well.
