If I could name a bowl, this would be called "Tempest". I just love what happens with opaque enamels, when they are high-fired and returned to the kiln time after time. The inside of this bowl is a delicious mixture of very dark navy, white, and hints of curving, swirling forms in shades of copper, red and turquoise, very subtle in tone but visible nevertheless. (except it was REALLY difficult to photograph!) The outside looks almost like a volcano, with melting, shifting colours, black, white, green...with a gorgeous red rim. I may yet polish the top rim of the bowl, to give that hint of copper...but it is very new, and i like to "live" with my bowls for a week or so, to decide exactly what finish they need. This one is really different, and extremely dramatic, almost as if an artist has thrown colour onto the surface and let it run and mingle. It's fabulous, even if I say so myself.....and if nobody buys it, it will without doubt find its way onto MY coffee table!

SIZE 6CM HIGH X 10.5 WIDE AT TOP.
This lovely bowl is ENAMEL ON COPPER, fired in my studio. No two pieces are ever the same. The bowls look painted, but the random effects are a testament to the fact that they are hand-made, and have a life of their own in the kiln - they are quite unlike the mechanical uniformity of mass-produced items. You can display these lovely bowls, keep trinkets in them, use them for sweets, even put a candle or tealight, which will reflect in the glossy surface....the choice is yours. (It is not good to put olives or gherkins or anything with a vinegar in it, since enamel is glass, and vinegar may etch the surface). The colours are rich and beautiful and will NEVER fade. Many layers are used to create the very special effects.
As a special offer for the opening of the shop, each bowl will be sent wrapped in black tissue, in a super black matt gift box, with some black satin ribbon...it will make a fabulous gift.
