Meadow - Felted and Embroidered Wall Art

A richly textured and embroidered panel, featuring a pretty summer meadow, has been mounted on calico covered board to form an original piece of wall art. Sky blue wool fibers have been felted to a background of kunin felt (produced from recycled plastic bottles. A wide variety of yarn snippets, carefully collected from other yarn projects, have been added to represent the meadow. Stitching in fine cotton has been added to the sky to 'stabilise' the felting. The stitched and felted panel is edged in blanket stitch using threads to match the areas of the design. Simple embroidery stitches have been used to add distant daisies and buttercups. A background panel of calico covered mount board, A5 in size, has been used to complete the design. The embroidered panel is hand stitched to the calico. A cotton hanging loop is provided (but may be removed if you decide to frame the design). The back of the art work is neatened by another piece of 'eco' felt carefully stitched in place over the stretching threads.
