Full description
Large shadow frame. altered and distressed in a vintage style.
The outer frame has been painted in layers starting with a dark purple under coat then a light lavender coat. the light coat has been sanded back in places in a distressed manner to reveal glimpses of the base coat. some gold metal leaf has been added for extra interest.
Two corners have had some rich texture added in a free organic manner. the texture has many layers of colour including embossing enamel, gold gilt wax polish and sprinklings of beads. there are some hand stamped butterflies that have their wings raised from the surface as if they have simply rested on the frame fora moment.
the inside has a botanic specimen book-page depicting flowers and their descriptions. On to this I have added more 3D butterflies with stamped wording (eg "Fig 3" "Fig 4" ).
this is a very feminine piece.
