Porcelain and Glass Dish - Seawater
Description
I make these porcelain pieces at my home studio, meticulously texturing each one by hand (no stamps or texture sheets), sanding and glazing them.
This low dish has many deep craters, some of which are pierced through. The bowl is made of high fired ivory porcelain which is slightly translucent when fired at this temperature. The body of the interior has been glazed with a matt sandy stoneware glaze, and the craters glazed with soft green gloss along the edges .The larger craters have been filled with recycled auto glass (from when some little s*d smashed my car window!) which has mixed with the glaze, and crackled and gives a wonderful seawater colour. The underside of the dish has an interesting bumpy texture. Unfortunately this piece is not signed.
The dish is just over 6 inches/15.5cm across and 3/4 inch/2cm high.
This is intended as an object of beauty only....it is not intended for food use.
Inspiration
I have an obsession with textures. These vessels are a way of experimenting with different texture and colour combinations....I'm happy to take custom orders :)
