Machine and hand embroidered accessories to wear or display

i am a textile artist from Milton Keynes - city of trees, grid roads and roundabouts - where I have a studio at Westbury Arts Centre. Westbury is a little oasis of calm, with ancient apple trees, bee hives and a moat where moorhens nest. My work reflects my surroundings, alternating between images, motifs and techniques which reflect the natural world, and the stricter geometries of my local built environment. I like to work in layers, building up texture by adding paint, print, machine and hand embroidery to a fabric base. I exhibit larger framed pieces and wallhangings at Westbury Arts Centre and other local galleries, but I also like making smaller items like clutch bags, brooches and decorations. I rarely repeat a design exactly, but may work through the same process, varying the colours and the stitches used. Most of my hand stitching happens in the evening as I find it relaxing and meditative.
I love using natural fabrics and threads - silks, wools and linens - and have a huge stash of recycled, salvaged and found 'treasures', which I use to embellish bags and brooches (sifting and sorting my treasure is almost as pleasurable as the stitching itself). So if you buy something from me, you'll know it's been imbued with love and should have lots to give back...
