Totally unique, one-off crochet creations handmade by me, Alyson

Technically, I started crocheting when my mum taught me as a small child, but I picked it up again with a renewed passion in 2014. Since then, I've started a knitting & crochet podcast with my mum, called Keep Calm and Carry Yarn, and have begun my journey as a crochet designer.

I love crochet because it is so uniquely handmade. Knitting and weaving can be done by a machine, but crochet can only be made by hand! I love getting stuck in the process of crocheting; the rhythmic stitches, feeling the yarn feed through my fingers, even deciphering tricky patterns. But the simple fact is one person can only have so many crocheted items! I use Woo Woollens to sell the excess crochet because I think handmade items should go to good homes.

Every piece in the shop was lovingly handmade by me, but you'll notice different reasons why I made each item. You might find samples of patterns I've designed myself. Or sometimes I just really want to make something even though there's no space in my closet. Or I might have made something, worn it a few times and now it's ready for a new home (don't worry, I use a special wool wash). Whatever the reason, I'll always be upfront and let you know all the details.
