Hi, I’m Sofiya, the maker behind Velvet Archetypes. I create handmade sculptural candles in small batches, with each design chosen for its shape, symbolism and character.
I love making pieces that feel a little different from ordinary candles – from motherhood and nature-inspired designs to darker, mystical and seasonal pieces. I work mainly with soy wax and beeswax, depending on the design, and finish many of the candles by hand to bring out the small details.
Because everything is handmade, each candle may have slight variations in colour and finish, which makes every piece a little unique.
Velvet Archetypes is about creating candles that can be enjoyed as decoration, given as meaningful gifts, or simply chosen because the design speaks to you.
