Welcome to Clayton Bears, home to cloth bears full of character.

Hello, my name is Sue Newlands and I have been making bears for 25 years.

Clayton Bears began in 2000, when I was living in the West Yorkshire village of Clayton West. I designed and made traditional, jointed mohair bears and sold almost 1000 bears over those years before taking a short break from sewing.

I have now returned to my sewing room to make these little cloth bears which have the same character, expressions and clothing as my bears of old. Made from a cotton-linen fabric, with sewn in arms and legs, glass beads for eyes, and embroidered nose and mouth, I am hoping that one may find its way into your bear collection, or maybe as a gift or keepsake for someone special. I rarely repeat a design and most are single edition bears.
Occasionally, I’ll be adding a fully jointed mohair bear too.
