Hi, I'm Becca :)

I'm a Textile Designer Maker,

I specialise in embroidery, embellishment, and digital print and I combine these techniques to create exciting innovative contemporary products. I use traditional embroidery techniques but I like to combine these with more innovative materials such as acrylic.

I take inspiration from everything and like to create collections of products based on different themes. I also like to browse charity and vintage shops to gather primary research and items such as vintage tins and perfume bottles. I collect these to draw inspiration to create contemporary outcomes.

To begin the design process I like to use fineliners, inks, metallic brush pens and watercolours to respond to my primary research, to create drawings, sketches and mark making outcomes. My drawing style is quite illustrative and sketchy. I like to create small illustrations and combine them on sheets to create stylised compositions. I then like to scan in my outcomes to develop them further on Photoshop and Illustrator. I have also recently found a love for marbling and abstract painting, I then develop these further using Photoshop and print them digitally to embellish and adorn to create more sophisticated outcomes.

I also have a love for styling and visual merchandising so I take a lot of inspiration from shop window displays. I have experience of working with a wedding company in which I style wedding venues and go through the creative processes of creating centre pieces and bespoke stationery. I am also inspired by the high end wedding market and couture embroidery and beading on wedding dresses and accessories.
