About Soranami Design: Crafting the Skywave
Based in a family workshop with decades of history, Soranami Design officially launches on April 26, 2026.
My path to becoming a maker wasn't linear. After a 15-year career in London, I returned to my roots to escape the "bland" corporate grind and rediscover the "brilliant." My grandfather, a lifelong master craftsman whose portfolio included commissions for the refurbishment of Windsor Castle, was my first mentor.
In late 2025, at 94 years old, he passed his workshop and his wisdom on to me with one simple piece of advice: "Just go and make something nice. Remember how it feels."
The Meaning of Soranami.
Phillip
Soranami translates to Skywave, reflecting a deep reverence for the organic patterns and fluid flow found in the natural world. In the workshop, I work with the "predictably unpredictable" nature of timber, blending Scandinavian functionality with Japanese minimalist simplicity to create high-quality, sustainable furniture and decor.
The Business of Craft.
This is more than a creative outlet; it is a dedicated business built on a foundation of professional integrity and absolute transparency. I have invested everything into this transition from the city boardroom to the workbench. While my heart is in the making, my focus is entirely on you, the customer.
My Promise to You:
Support Local Trade: Every purchase directly supports the survival of traditional British craftsmanship. I did well in my previous career, but not well enough for this venture to be anything less than a success—your trade is deeply appreciated.
Satisfaction First: I don’t believe in "making do." If you aren't thrilled with your piece, I offer a no-questions-asked return policy.
Sustainability & Quality: We create earth-inspired items that remain affordable without compromising on artisan values. We make items for life and living.
I’ve traded the suit for an apron and the meetings for the bench. I invite you to join me on this journey and bring the beauty of the Soranami into your home.
