Silver chainmaille jewellery, handmade in Shropshire.

My name is Paul Allen and I am a self-employed jewellery artist living in Church Stretton, Shropshire.

I have been making silver chainmaille jewellery for about 7 years now, and I've gradually changed my techniques over the years. I initially bought the jump rings pre-cut, but I found this very restrictive. So I researched how to make the jump rings myself, this has given me much more creative scope and has allowed me to create patterns and designs that are totally unique to my brand.

I am also one of only a small number of chainmaille artists to solder their jump-rings closed, I do this because I want to make jewellery that will stand the test of time and not pull apart or break. This process is very time consuming, but I believe that the extra time involved is worth the effort. It also means that anyone buying my silver chains will have a piece of jewellery that will last a lifetime.

Chain weaving has a long history going back to the early Sumarians and Egyptians. The Greeks and Romans also made jewellery in wire. I try to keep my techniques true to this old style of chain making and I am very proud to be able to continue an ancient art.

Buying from me

My name is Paul Allen and I have been making silver jewellery for about 7 years. The process of my work involves coiling silver wire around a mandrel to make a coil, the coil is then cut into individual rings with a jewellers saw, the rings are then assembled into the designs and soldered closed one-by-one using a blow torch and silver solder. When the soldering and assembly is complete I polish the chains and send them to the Birmingham Assay Office to be hallmarked.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Please note: Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken.

I endeavour to create jewellery that is of a first class standard, however If you are not delighted with your piece of jewellery then please contact me within 14 days of delivery for a full refund.

If you require an alteration to the length of a bracelet then please contact me after receipt for a free alteration. Once I have received the bracelet I will make the alterations and return it to you, please allow 3/5 days for the alteration to be made. I will send you an e-mail as soon as it is dispatched.
