HI, I'm Ling Warlow, Paper Botanist, good to meet you! I'm an artist based the North West and working with paper to create stunning artistic renderings of plants and flowers, especially British wildflowers. The Paper Wildflower is a series of adult craft kits designed and created by me to teach you haw to make your own stunning wildflower stems. With twelve different flowers to make you can create our very own paper meadow full of colourful blooms. From spring flowers to woodland flowers, meadow flowers and hedgerow flowers, I'm adding new designs all the time.
I started making paper flowers back in 2019, just for fun, but as we went into lockdown, confined at home, that daily walk became so valuable and I began to study wildflowers. Something unlocked inside me and I remembered my childhood love of wildflowers. I still remembered all the names, and over that summer I began to look at them differently, closely, and make my own versions of the flowers using crepe paper and wire. I realised this was what I wanted to do, fill my life with wildflowers and find a way of sharing them with others. I was very lucky to get an Arts Council grant to develop this work and have worked with wildflowers ever since. I visit schools and talk to children about the flowers, I run regular workshops sharing the skills with others and create fabulous commissions of giant flowers for homes, galleries and museums.
In my own art practice I love to use naturally coloured papers, hand dyed by myself in small batches using natural pigments and dyes created from found and foraged plant based materials. I create limited edition sets of plant dyed paper, offering a wonderful, soft palette of colours, perfect for creating paper wildflowers.
Please note individual flower kits and boxed gift sets in The Paper Wildflower collection do not include plant dyed paper, however the instructions can be used with papers from the plant dyed sets.
