We're currently taking a break. Be kind, stay at home and look out for one another!
I was 16 when I made my first lino print. It was not my best work and I definitely ended up with plasters on my fingers after my first cutting session. Fast forward approximately (ahem - actually, maybe I won't admit to the precise number) ....years and after some dabbling with screen-printing I have rediscovered just how much I love carving a lino block. I only need a plaster about once every 3 months these days. Score!
All of my printing is done at home in the kitchen of my South London home using a hodge podge collection of archival papers and water based inks. I am the proud owner of a Hawthorne Etching press that I'm slowly getting to know. Everything in the kitchen gets covered in ink on a printing day and there isn't enough space to dry stuff - but that just adds to the challenge and makes the end result even more exciting. Printing is a constant learning curve. Each print has its own slightly unique appearance - tiny differences that result from the pressure on the press, slight paper or plate movements and application of the ink. All entirely intentional - right?
I believe that illustrations can tell stories and my hope is to create characters and worlds that can bring those stories to life. Although I would be satisfied just raising a smile from my son when he looks at my pictures.
I'm open to collaborations and interested in taking commissions and in licensing. Please do get in touch! email: email@example.com
