Handmaking bears and other creatures since 2001

I was inspired by a friend who was making beautiful bears; she produced a kit for me to have a go. I was hooked and started visiting the teddy bear fairs at Kensington to get supplies and more ideas. So Mrs Blake's bears came into being! My father owns The Button Queen - which at that time was in the heart of the West End of London - and he gave my bears a home because I used the button jointing method to attach their limbs. They lived there until my parents gave up the shop and moved to Wales.

My claim to bear fame is that Bill Nighy, the actor, has two of my little bears!

I work in my little studio called "Home" with my girlfriend and our cat, Meshki.

Inspired by the desire to be more eco-aware, I have started to make bears using recycled fabrics with patterns from online and my own hand-created patterns. I have also started doing workshops allowing everyone that wants to, to be able to learn new skills and make their own little friend to take home. I love sharing my knowledge of the craft and am open to commissions, ideas and suggestions for how I can expand and refine my skills.
