About MJM Pure

MJM Pure

I've always been passionate about art, music, fashion, and design, so this is a natural extension of me that I want to express.

I've always been passionate about art, music, fashion, and design. Growing up in Bristol, I remember my mum taking me to all the local fabric shops, and that's where my love for creating began. I was constantly surrounded by beautiful patterns and textures, and I became fascinated by how different materials could be transformed into something entirely new.

Since those early days, I’ve never stopped making things. Whether it's clothing, soft furnishings, leather goods, or even DIY projects, I’ve always had a hands-on approach to everything I do. I love the tactile nature of working with different materials, and I’ve developed a real appreciation for craftsmanship. There's something incredibly satisfying about starting with raw materials and turning them into something functional and beautiful.

As my skills grew, so did my interest in sustainability. In recent years, I’ve become increasingly focused on up-cycling and reusing materials to minimise waste. I find immense joy in taking something old or discarded and breathing new life into it. The idea of giving materials a second chance is not only practical but also creatively fulfilling. It’s a way to challenge myself to think outside the box and come up with innovative designs that respect both the environment and the craftsmanship behind each piece.

Working with upcycled materials requires a lot of creativity and resourcefulness. You don’t always have the luxury of starting with a perfect piece of fabric or leather, so you learn to embrace imperfections and work with what you have. I’ve taken old jackets and turned them into stylish bags, or used fabric scraps to make unique cushions and soft furnishings. It’s about seeing potential in everything, and that’s what makes it exciting.

Up-cycling and sustainability are more than just trends for me—they are values that shape everything I do. I’m committed to reducing my environmental footprint by sourcing materials responsibly and minimising waste in all my projects. This not only influences my design work but also the way I live day to day. From the products I purchase to the way I manage my workshop, I’m always thinking about how to be more eco-conscious and sustainable.

What I love most about up-cycling is that it makes the creative process even more personal. When you’re working with repurposed materials, no two projects are exactly the same. Every piece tells a story, whether it’s a chair you’ve refurbished or a leather bag made from old scraps. This adds a layer of uniqueness to everything I create and allows me to infuse my personality and values into each piece.

Sharing this passion for sustainability with others is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do. I love helping people see the potential in materials they would otherwise discard. Whether it’s teaching someone how to up-cycle their old clothes or collaborating on a design project, there’s something incredibly fulfilling about spreading the message of sustainability.
Looking back, I’m grateful for the journey that brought me here. My early experiences in those fabric shops in Bristol laid the foundation for my love of design and creation. Today, that passion has evolved into a dedication to sustainability and upcycling. It’s a journey that continues to inspire me every day, as I look for new ways to merge creativity with environmental responsibility.
