Animals from everywhere, illustrations from North Yorkshire

Hello, I'm Elki.

I'm a wannabe illustrator with an animal obsession and dreams of becoming a surface pattern designer. I'm inspired by patterns in nature and get a bit giddy at lovely geometric designs.

The animals featured in my cards and prints have been many years in the making. Originally they sprang out of the mind of an imaginary tortoise called Turtle. But that's a long story. I'll tell it you over a cup of tea if you'd like.

Everything in my shop has been designed by me in my home-based studio (or sometimes in front of the TV) in York. Most things start off as sketches or doodles that I scan in to my computer to play around with and create a final design.

Environmental Statement.

I am conscious of the damage currently being done to the environment and so it's very important to me that my business has as little environmental impact as possible. For this reason I try to work with recycled materials and printing partners that have a similar approach to business. I don't claim to be perfect, but I will keep trying to improve!

When you buy Kirin and Co products you can expect that:
- cards and A4 prints are printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved stock
- envelopes for greeting cards are made from recycled paper
- wherever possible I will try to avoid using polythene bags as packaging (sometimes it may be necessary to protect items in the post, but I always aim to find an alternative or use as few as is needed)
- wood used in door plaques and other wooden ornaments is FSC approved and comes from a sustainable source
- I try to recycle packaging that I receive day-to-day so your item may arrive through your letterbox in a 'rough and ready' envelope (this will never impact the quality of the item inside)
- business cards are made from 100% recycled cotton tshirts
