Hi, I'm Helen and I love playing with coloured paper in my home studio in South London - hopefully producing some cards and gift tags along the way.

I studied Graphic Design and Fine Art and I have been practicing as an artist, mainly painting in oils, ever since. As well as painting I also enjoy making things, especially cards (initially for family and friends birthdays) which I started selling along with my paintings as part of my local Open House festival. Like many things, for the last two years this has been cancelled, so that prompted me to open my Folksy shop.
The Japanese word kirigami means 'to cut paper' and as this is what I spend a lot of time doing whilst producing my cards, it seemed a good choice of name for my shop. Japanese art and culture have fascinated me for a long time and I still have a book on origami that I bought when I was in my teens. I find folding the origami elements for my cards gives me useful time to think about my work but sometimes it can clear my mind completely and become quite meditative.
Apart from the Japanese influence there is sometimes a touch of Scandinavian style discernible in my designs and I hope these bright, cheerful cards can bring a little bit of joy to the people who receive them.
