I have been a crafter, sewer and user of all kinds of materials since a child. From Fashion and Fabrics at A level, to completing a Foundation Degree in Art and Design, to becoming a teacher where I have been inspiring Primary children with a whole host of materials to be creative and unleash their inner designer/artist/crafter, I cannot imagine a day when I am not pondering over what to do with 'this particular piece of fabric!'
I absolutely adore giving a piece of fabric, a vintage doily or some old yarn a new lease of life; too much in our society is simply discarded because it doesn't fit, or I don't like it anymore, or its not on trend; there's far too much waste in the world - we need to look after it! I get my inspiration from all kinds of places - when I am out and about, researching what is 'on trend' at the moment, passions of mine and friends, sometimes the fabric 'talks to me itself and I just know what it needs to be' ... I also take commissions and the customer will direct the request! All great fun!
In South Derbyshire; where I live with my cats (Jacko, Jaspa, Turbo and Lister), terriers (Mutley and Flo) and my hubby; a few years ago, group of ladies started some very well organised craft fairs, this inspired me to try my hand at the same and re-kindled my passion. JJ's Creations has developed from there... and long may it continue.
