“The Porcelain People Vessels collection is a new series of slab-built vessels. They are illustrated with sketchbook observations on a variety of themes.
Gail combines mishima inlay, sgraffito and thin colour wash painting in the decoration.” The themes include: At the beach, At the Met, At the cafe, Musicians, Cubism, Botanicals, family, visits to museums and faces. All taken from drawings in my sketchbooks, observations collected over many years. Porcelain People Vessels, around 15cm -25cm high by 8cm wide. The 20 porcelain people vessels available as unique, one off, studio ceramics, individual pieces with personal stories to tell.
They are more decorative than functional but most can hold water.
Also functional bowls stoneware and earthenware inspired by landscape and the crumpled rocks on the Jurassic Coast. Also scored and etched lines brought out with coloured slips and underglazes.
I work from my home/studio in North London. U.K. I have painted and been an art teacher and printmaker for may years, I have had a kiln for 10 years and I love it.
