Cur & Mudgeon - People Aren't Perfect, So Why Should Our Jewellery Be?

Welcome to Cur & Mudgeon, where coastal folklore meets contemporary design, born right on the rugged shores of North Down! My wee jewellery business is proudly based along the beautiful Holywood coastline, where the Irish Sea provides endless inspiration.
The name sounds like a grumpy old man, but it actually hides a splash of Celtic mythology. Cur is the wild, mischievous spirit of the sea spray, dancing on top of the waves and causing a ruckus across Belfast Lough. The Mudgeon is the stubborn, grumbling old soul of the deep sea, keeping the earth steady while Cur throws a party on the surface!
Together, this mythical duo creates the perfect chaotic harmony of our local coastline and I channel that energy into every piece I make. Keeping me company through all the making and beachcombing is my PA (Puppy Assistant), Sadie, a gorgeous Cockapoo, and the love of my life!
I have a deep love for things that are a little bit wonky. You won't find sterile, factory-made symmetry here. I intentionally leave tool marks, uneven edges, and unique quirks in the metal. People aren't perfect, so why should our jewellery be!? To me, those human imperfections are precisely where the soul lives.
Using fine silver clay, I handcraft pieces that balance smooth, polished elegance with raw, organic textures.
Many of my pieces are cast directly from natural treasures found along the shore, like seashells and leaves.
From custom-carved double discs and abstract shapes, to characterful faces, every piece is born from nature, reimagined by hand, and metaphorically pressed by the tide.
All of my handmade wonkiness is produced using .999 fine silver ✨
