About Circles and Shadows Jewellery and Design

Circles and Shadows Jewellery and Design

Silver, copper and gem stones - I love being in the studio and working on new ideas and designs!

Hi - my name is Gillian and I'm based in the North East of England.

I love working with silver clay which is made from recycled silver - it's a great material for amazing textures and creating one off pieces! Combining silver clay with silversmithing techniques is something I really enjoy and I love working in copper, the warmrth of the colour is beautiful especially when combined with silver.

I grew up by the sea and have been a dancer and an aerialist for many year so you can often find elements of the beach, water or movement in my work.

My favourite gemstone is amethyst although my favourite colour is blue so I also like any gem that is a shade of blue!

I get my silver work hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office. My sponsors mark is my initials in a heart shape which represents how much care and joy I take making each item.

I love how jewellery is more than just decorative - it can evoke a time, a place a person and can forge connections across time and distance.

When I am not busy creating jewellery you can find me doing something active - hanging upside down doing some aerial or outdoors on the trails running and rock climbing.

If you're putting the kettle on mines a cup of tea please!
