Welcome to Byre Handmade.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm Byron, the crafter in this little venture.

What started as a spur-of-the-moment pandemic lockdown purchase (we all had those!) of a make-your-own leather journal cover soon became a full-blown hobby and passion for Leathercraft. Out of this passion, I decided to build Byre Handmade with a focus on creating handcrafted items made to last.

The name Byre Handmade comes from my first name. Originally used as a surname, it was given to those who worked with cattle and is derived from the old English phrase “at the byres.” Since I work with cowhide leather, it felt quite fitting to use this connection when choosing my business name.
