I Absolutely love making marbled papers!

I always loved the colourful papers in old books and hoped one day to learn how to make them. A trip to Venice, where there were wonderful shops selling marbled papers and items made and decorated with it, inspired me to do some research. Secondhand books and YouTube videos gave me the information I needed to begin experimenting. It sounds so simple, apply drops of paint to a thickened water surface and manipulate them with a stylus and combs. But it is a tricky and temperamental process and the stack of dud papers grew pretty high before I finally cracked it! I now have converted my shed at the end of the garden into a studio and that is where I work with my faithful setter, Chester, snoozing patiently and keeping me company.

I joke that if something sits still long enough, I will try to marble it. In addition to paper, I have marbled wood and fabric. I am always thinking of things I can make and decorate with paper, from boxes and pen pots to note pads and Christmas ornaments.
