My life is filled with grandchildren, beads and wire, I just love creating new jewellery in between looking after my young grandchildren who love to see what's going on in my work studio but they are never in there alone, the last time I took my eye off one of them they tried to put a Swarovski bracelet through the shredder, thankfully all ended well!
I started making jewellery as a hobby in 2007 and set up my own business in 2010 selling on-line, at house parties, craft fairs and fund raising events.
Working with wire is my favourite method of jewellery making; it allows me to be more creative with my designs and also enables me to easily make adjustments to the finished item.
I am meticulous with my material choice and through careful selection have narrowed my suppliers down to those who provide me with materials that meet my own high standard of quality & that meet EU directives for nickel content.
Swarovski crystals & pearls, fresh water pearls and gem stones are favourites of mine, I also use glass and acrylic beads if more suited to my design.
I use mainly non-tarnish silver plated wire but also sterling silver, silver filled and gold plated wires.
I have also started to customise glass cabochons. My inspiration for these comes from watercolours painted by my brother-in-law. I love the colours in his paintings and he has allowed me to use photographs of them to create unique glass cabochons to use in my designs.
