About Weaving The Wild

Weaving The Wild

Weaving the wild in sustainably sourced natural fibres – primarily cotton and linen

Weaving on a two shaft SAORI loom – based in the Cotswolds. Choosing sustainably sourced natural fibres to create beautifully soft textiles – scarves in the main, but occasionally cushions and lavender bags (filled with pure lavender from Cotswold Lavender).

I came to weaving in the summer of 2020 when we were all looking at our lives and thinking about what was important. As a writer I often feel the urge to create in a different way, and while researching the weaving industry during the Victorian era I felt drawn to try weaving and fell in love...

Since that summer I have sold many scarves through exhibitions, but I wanted to reach out to a wider audience, and so here I am, setting up my Folksy shop :)

Below is the four slogans of SAORI weaving – a kind of freestyle mindful practice, where the weaver is not restricted by patterns etc. but is free to "weave in the moment", exploring colour and texture in a unique way.

Every item woven is unique, and cannot be repeated.

The Four Slogans of SAORI

The following slogans represent the core philosophy of SAORI. They guide those practicing SAORI not only while they weave but also in the ways they conduct their lives as a whole.

Consider the differences between a machine and human beings.
Be bold and adventurous.
Look out through eyes that shine.
Inspire one another and everyone in the community.

This is and will always be at the core of my weaving. My intention is to share my experiences with others in my stories (blog) about my journey into SAORI weaving…
