“Wooden Toys for Girls and Boys from 2 to 92!”

Shop Announcement:

All items for sale in my shop are genuinely hand made by myself in my Chelmsford workshop. Shapes are cut using a scroll saw (fretsaw) or bandsaw, and individually sanded, to ensure a really high standard of finish which is a delight to handle. I do not use (or possess) a laser cutting machine, so my products have no burnt edges, which are a marring feature of so many mass produced wooden items these days.
All toys are UKCA / CE certified and guaranteed safe for play by the age group mentioned. Where they are considered unsafe for a particular age group, eg, where there are small parts which might present a choking hazard, or long cords, as on pull-along toys and cot mobiles, such things are noted in the item's description, with suitable advice to parents and guardians to ensure safe play.
Unlike the all-singing, all-dancing manufactured toys in the high street, my traditional toys have no batteries, no flashing lights, no blaring sirens or music - in fact nothing at all to wear down the nerves and patience of parents and grand parents! They are simply an encouragement to young children to develop their motor skills, co-ordination, imagination, and delight in the look and feel of a totally natural product. In short, they are made with pleasure to give pleasure!

Wooden Toys for Girls and Boys from 2 to 92!

My love of all things wood was inherited from my father, a keen amateur woodworker who found great enjoyment in making all sorts of toys and games for his children and many grandchildren.
Having retired from full time employment in accounts in 2007, I now pursue my toymaking craft from my home in Chelmsford, Essex, where I have converted a large garage into a comprehensive workshop. There I make a range of wooden toys for sale at local craft fairs and online. Material used is mostly solid Pine and Birch Plywood, from environmentally managed Scandinavian forests, and some reclaimed hardwoods such as Beech, Maple, Ash and Mahogany.
I have been a member of the Essex Craft Guild (formerly the Guild of Essex Craftsmen) since 1998, having passed their rigorous quality based selection process, and have been proud to exhibit at their many shows around the county of Essex.
