A little bit about me:
My name is Jenny, and I live in Kent, in South-East England. I make and sell handmade dolls from floral wire, wool, ribbon, embroidery thread and wooden beads! I have always been interested in arts and crafts, and was inspired to make the dolls as part of a Christmas craft project. The dolls have adapted as time has gone on, and I am very proud of the way that they look now.
The dolls are designed to be aimed at children, and I noticed that there is a lack of ethnic dolls on the market, they are usually portrayed as fair skinned with light blonde or occasionally brown hair. I wanted to change this, and allow all young people to identify with the dolls, so my items all come in a range of skin tones and hair colours to reflect their own identity and diversity.
Outside of crafting, I am also a Rainbow and Brownie Leader as part of Girlguiding UK, the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Rainbows are aged between 5 and 7 years old, and Brownies are aged 7-10.
I take my inspiration from the beautiful colours of nature and try and inject a little bit of sparkle into every project. Working with young children has taught me that you can never have too much glitter!
