I work from my home studio which has become a treasure trove of fabrics, threads, buttons and beads; old linens and lace; paints, dyes, papers, old jewellery, and many other bits and pieces. I enjoy making artworks with paper and paints but my first love has always been working with textiles. The tactile nature of different fabrics appeals to my senses and I love to mix contrasting materials and connect them with stitch.
I like to use recycled textiles and found objects and place great importance on the mantra 'make do and mend'. I enjoy creating something new out of something old, discarded and abandoned. The bric-a-brac of life made into new artworks, the preservation of a previous 'life' and the creation of a new memory.
In 2015 I graduated from Robert Gordon University/Grays School of Art achieving a BA in Design & Creativity with Distinction. Prior this I also attained HNC/HND in Textiles, and City & Guilds in Creative Stitch & Design.
