The Lapis Tree… well it all started with a single beautiful amber gemstone tree!

So a bit about me…

My love for gemstones definitely started while I was working at a wonderful small independently owned jewellery shop in the beautiful cathedral city of Lichfield.
As I studied for my Professional Jeweller’s Diploma I gained knowledge in many aspects of the Jewellery trade but the gemstone subject particularly caught my attention and has continually interested me since.

I have always been astounded by the sheer beauty which can come from our mother earth and the almost magical processes which culminate in the creation of these rare treasures.
After researching into recognising and identifying gemstones and the unique scientific properties which give them their characteristics, I also investigated into the different folklore’s behind their meanings.

Then, on a bustling market day in Lichfield Square, a small stall with a glimmering golden glow caught my eye… It was an incredible and fascinating collection of amber gemstone trees.
I was in awe of the magic oozing from every one of them. As I admired the intricate twists of the wire and the contrast with the shining dazzling stones in the sunlight, the one I choose was of a medium size and perfect for a gemstone enthusiast.

This was to be the “Good Luck Tree”… It has followed me ever since then. From home to home and place to place, and even though my life has taken me in many different directions since that day, it’s still just as beautiful as the day it found me.

And my collection grew in size! Although, I could never find one quite so intricate and well made.
After collecting gemstone trees from many different places and in varying styles and shapes, I found myself wishing that there was more variety in the different types of gemstones and wires used.

So I set out to make my own… These would not only have more choice of gemstones and wire combinations, but also of materials used for the tree bases.
The focus would be on quality of finished tree (within the realms of a handmade product of course), but also on the individual characters of each tree. The hope would be that each one would have its own story and its own aura.

And here I am now.
