Each of my Ceramic pieces are handmade in my little shed, at the top of the garden. I work alongside my Beardied Collie, called Cymbol, she is my constant companion.
My inspirations are generally drawn from the natural world around us - flowers, trees, vintage fabrics, bric-a-brac, and retro pieces. I also love a good rummage through antique shops for any objects I can incorporate directly into my work. I have numerous Doilies and hand stitched floral table runners, which are pressed directly into the clay, to form vintage themes, and textures.
I make flowers, bowls, boats, and hanging decorations such as houses, caravans, hearts, plaques and smaller accessory pieces. My work is generally produced in small batches, and I only create pieces that I would like to buy myself, in the hope that others will like what I have made too.
I have always been creative, and carry a sketchbook everywhere, to jot down inspirations, ideas, or anything that has have caught my eye, to utilize at a later date. I studied Ceramics initially, on a foundation course in Art & Design, then went on to complete a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion. A number of years later, I was drawn to Ceramics again, and studied a Foundation Degree in Contemporary Ceramic Practice.
In 2012 I moved to New Zealand for several years, and broadened my skills, teaching a children's pottery classes. I have sold my work at various shops, and galleries, and took part in all the local craft markets around Auckland. In 2017 myself and my family returned to Scotland, where I have carried on my craft.
I hope you enjoy looking around my shop.....
